Marcus Thuram is from Inter Milan

All that was missing was the official announcement, now it’s here: Marcus Thuram is a new Inter Milan player. The 1997-born French striker lands at the Nerazzurri after four seasons with Borussia Monchengladbach.

“He runs fast Marcus Thuram: he has always run fast, to reach his goals and overcome every obstacle. To prove to everyone that he is worth much more than the surname he bears, but without ever forgetting the teachings and example of his father Lilian, who, initially, would have preferred to devote himself to judo or fencing,” reads the note issued by the Nerazzurri club.

“No way: similar, yet so different, both with Italy in their destiny. Marcus was born on August 6, 1997 in Parma, during his father’s Emilian experience. Soccer has always been part of Tikus’ life, his nickname: he dreamed of going on the attack, of swelling the net. Scoring goals for Thuram is joy: the same joy that Ronaldinho, Henry, and Leo Messi gave him, when they would stop after training at Barcelona, where dad Lilian played, to play with him.”

“Marcus’s soccer adventure began at Neuilly-sur-Seine, then continued at Athletic Club Boulogne-Billancourt, where at age 13 he showed up to play a game in the shoes his father used in the 2006 World Cup final. In Lilian’s footsteps, literally. Not yet of age, he arrives at Sochaux, then at Guingamp in 2017: the path is now definitely set. With the Breton team he scores 17 goals in two seasons, including the one that eliminates Paris Saint-Germain from the French League Cup in 2019.”

“Marcus runs faster and faster, until he arrives in Germany, at Borussia Mönchengladbach. At Borussia Park he definitely explodes: that very fast and physically strong boy changes the way he plays, refines his technique and improves his feeling for goal. Thuram is electrifying, he is a dragger on and off the field: Marcus celebrates Borussia’s home victories by hoisting his jersey on the flag, waved in front of the crowd at the end of the game. And the successes become many and more important, so much so that he wins the French national team, with which he also takes the field in the World Cup finals in Qatar 2022.”

“His story is first intertwined with Inter Milan’s in October 2020, when Thuram makes his Champions League debut at the San Siro against the Nerazzurri. It will be the first taste of San Siro for him, who as a child dreamed of becoming like Ronaldo the Phenomeno, protagonist of a thousand duels with dad Lilian.”

“Now he’s back there after his best season in his career, made up of 13 goals and 6 assists in the Bundesliga: Tikus’ Nerazzurri run has just begun.”
