F1, record-breaking Max Verstappen: the Dutchman explains his secret
Max Verstappen dominating in Austria: his words
Max Verstappen’s Austrian weekend was bordering on perfection: the Red Bull standard bearer, in fact, finished in the lead in all sessions (free practice, qualifying, shootout, Sprint Race and Race: he is the first ever to do so), also adding the fastest lap in Sunday’s race (in Saturday’s Sprint Race the ‘fastest lap’ was instead set by Nico Hulkenberg).
After the award ceremony on the podium, the Dutchman tried to explain the secret of such obvious dominance: “What we do is to work all the time, non-stop, with my team: work that has allowed us to achieve this splendid result on this circuit. The team is crucial because on a particular weekend like the one with Sprint races there are so many things that can go wrong, instead we managed to get the maximum.”
Verstappen is also undisputed ruler in the overall standings: after nine events the Dutchman has 229 points in the standings, a good 81 more than teammate Sergio Perez, second at 148, and 100 more than Fernando Alonso, who had a less than unforgettable weekend with his Aston Martin (7th in the Sprint, 5th in the race behind teammate Lance Stroll).
