Jannik Sinner: Mats Wilander’s sentence arrives.

Mats Wilander has no doubts at all about Jannik Sinner, despite the South Tyrolean’s last two months of decline: according to the former world number one, the Azzurro will be a major player at Wimbledon.

“He can win anywhere, on all surfaces, I don’t see him winning Roland Garros as the first Major but he will be one of the favorites in the years to come,” said the Swede. “Jannik is not afraid of anything or anyone, he has already beaten Alcaraz and at Wimbledon he was two sets ahead of Djokovic. I see him working hard in every tournament, the important thing is that he doesn’t stay too long reading the comments on social neither positive nor negative.”

According to Wilander, Sinner is still growing, both technically and physically. “He’s putting on muscle, you can’t compare him to Alcaraz who already had an adult physique as a junior,” Wilander explains. “Djokovic, Zverev and Murray also had a similar path early in their careers, Sinner has his own physique and his own history. When he arrived on the circuit he had a very slender physique, we will see his final and complete version in 2-3 years,” are the words to Corriere della Sera.
