Jannik Sinner, rocket start at Wimbledon
Wimbledon: Jannik Sinner ahead by one set
Rocket start for Jannik Sinner in his debut match at Wimbledon.
The South Tyrolean tennis player dominated the first set against Argentina’s Juan Manuel Cerundolo, winning it 6-2.
The Wimbledon tournament has its roots in history: it is the oldest event as far as tennis is concerned. Spencer Gore was the first winner and one of the inventors of the volley method of play. In the inaugural edition of the tournament, the Englishman defeated compatriot William Marshall in the final in three sets: 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. The following year Gore tried to defend his title against Frank Hadow, but had to surrender in three sets: 7-5, 6-1, 9-7.
