Wimbledon: all goes smoothly for Novak Djokovic on debut
Wimbledon: all goes smoothly for Novak Djokovic on debut
Good start for Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon: the Serbian tennis player overcame Argentina’s Pedro Cachin in three sets with a score of 6-3, 6-3, 7-6.
The match, interrupted by rain for about an hour after the first set, lasted less than two hours. No particular problems for Nole, who even made himself the protagonist of a siparietto while trying to dab some clods with the towel.
Djokovic, who scored his 29th Wimbledon victory in a row, will face Australian Jordan Thompson in the second round.
Novak Djokovic is the active tennis player with the most number of Wimbledon men’s singles tournaments won: seven, one less than Switzerland’s Roger Federer, who recently retired after a career full of accomplishments. The Serbian ace triumphed on London’s grass in the 2011, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022 editions: in last year’s final he got the better of Nick Kyrgios, who forfeited and did not participate in the tournament in 2023, in four sets.
