Holger Rune makes irony out of Jannik Sinner’s duffel bag

Jannik Sinner’s Gucci duffel bag continues to cause discussion in the tennis world. The Italian athlete drew attention as he entered Wimbledon’s Central Court with the stylish bag bearing his initials-no dress code violation, because the brand had previously spoken with the Atp and Grand Slam organizers to make sure the duffel bag meets Championship requirements.

There was no shortage of irony online: “Such elegance has been missing since the days of Holger Rune, who entered the Us Open with an IKEA bag,” wrote one fan recalling Rune’s debut at the US Slam in 2021 with a questionable plastic duffle bag from IKEA.

Rune immediately took the cue, re-sharing the fan’s post and posting a poll on his Instagram stories, “Which is your favorite duffle bag?” he wrote wryly to accompany a photo montage with his plastic bag and his rival’s very expensive one.
