Bagnaia speaks out about Casey Stoner and the Valentino Rossi era.
Ducati centaur Pecco Bagnaia in an interview with Speedweek rejected any comparison with Casey Stoner: “People are very attached to the past and make the mistake of comparing riders from different eras with those of today. I cannot be compared to Casey Stoner, who won the world championship in 2007 with Ducati.”
“If you talk to a young person who is now just starting to follow racing, I’m sure they will tell you they like what I do. On the other hand, if you talk to someone who followed the whole era of Rossi, Stoner, Pedrosa, Lorenzo and Marquez, they will say Casey was better.”
“Today things are different than in the days of the Fantastic 4. In the past, the private teams had a bike that did not even reach 80 percent of the level of the factory bikes. The situation now has changed a lot,” Bagnaia pointed out.
