Wimbledon: Jannik Sinner makes an appeal to the Carrot Boys.
“They are gone and I miss them very much”: Jannik Sinner waved goodbye to the Carota Boys in mondovision after their four-set victory over France’s Halys in the third round of Wimbledon.
The South Tyrolean tennis player thanked and paid tribute to his carrot-clad fans, who supported him in the first two rounds of the Championships but have since returned to Italy: “I miss them, I think they are watching me now on TV. Bye guys, I hope you are well at home and not working too hard.”
The athlete from San Candido recalled the birth of that group, “I played in Vienna four years ago. The match before mine was over in the third set and I was very hungry, but I had not had a chance to eat too much. So I told my coach that I needed something to eat and he brought me a carrot, which I ate. It all started from there.”
