Inter and Samir Handanovic say goodbye
Official: Samir Handanovic is no longer an Inter player
Inter and Samir Handanovic are saying goodbye. The Nerazzurri club, through a note on its social profiles, announced the end of the relationship with the Slovenian defender, whose contract expired last June 30.
“An absolute reference, a locker room leader, a brave captain. Samir Handanovic has been all this in the 11 seasons he has defended the Nerazzurri goal. He signed with Inter on July 9, 2012, demonstrating from the first moment exceptional technical skills combined with great charisma that made him among the best goalkeepers in Inter’s history. Proof of this is his 455 appearances topped by 166 clean sheets. Thanks to these extraordinary numbers Samir joined Ivan Ramiro Cordoba (455) in 10th place in the list of players with the most appearances with the Inter shirt in all competitions. This is a historic and prestigious milestone for the Slovenian goalkeeper, who is also the second foreigner with the most appearances in the history of Serie A. Equally prestigious is also the record of penalties saved in the league: there are 32 in total.
An extraordinary career in which in the Nerazzurri, in addition to the Scudetto, he can boast two Italian Cups and two Italian Super Cups.
To Handanovic go the greetings, thanks and sincere affection of all the fans and the entire Nerazzurri family.
Thank you, Samir!” this is the club’s message.
After the departure of Cordaz and the now imminent farewell of Onana, Inter will be called upon to entirely revolutionize its goalkeeping package during the summer soccer market session.
