The girls are focused, with desire, after all we are in a final phase of the World Cup and it would be strange the opposite.” These are the words of Italy women’s coach Milena Bertolini on the eve of the friendly match with New Zealand in Auckland, the last test before the start of the 2023 World Cup, on the 24th with Argentina.

“It will be a real match,” Bertolini added, “and what I expect is to adapt quickly to the situations we are going to encounter in this World Cup, with very strong teams physically. We are growing from that point of view, so this test will tell how we are. We should be ready to go into the match right away, with the right attitude, knowing that we will have to go immediately strong in contrast, in speed of thought, in playing together and as a team, and in a compact way, and see on the field the things we are working on.”
