Dusan Tadic, sudden breakup with Ajax: Italian hopefuls
Dusan Tadic leaves Ajax: he had been approached by Roma in January
The paths of Ajax and Dusan Tadic suddenly broke down on Friday evening: confirming the sporting divorce between the two parties was the Amsterdam club itself, through a note circulated on its own channels that among other things also reports the Serbian’s words.
“The decision to leave the club was very difficult to make,” Tadic said. “However, I think this is the right time, I think it is correct not only for me but also for the club to end the relationship. The time I spent at Ajax and the successes we celebrated gave me indescribable feelings, which I have never felt before in my career. I would like to thank all the fans for the wonderful time I have spent here.”
“If it were up to me, this would not be a farewell, but a goodbye,” Tadic added, leaving a door open to a return to the Lancers in the future, albeit not as a player. I will forever be an Ajax player and I hope to return to Amsterdam soon, in a different role, perhaps as a coach.”
It remains to be seen, now, what the fate of the 34-year-old born in Backa Topola will be: in January Roma seemed very close to the Serbian national team captain for post-Zaniolo, but tight deadlines did not allow the negotiations to go through. The Giallorossi could return to the assault, but the interest of other mid- to high-ranking clubs for a player with great experience at the international level is not ruled out.
