Wimbledon, Djokovic wins first set against Jannik Sinner

Novak Djokovic won 6-3 in the first set of his Wimbledon 2023 semifinal against Jannik Sinner.

Sinner got hung up right away at the start: after failing to take advantage of two break points in the first game, the South Tyrolean immediately lost his serve in the second, suffering a break by Djokovic who took advantage of two forehand errors by the athlete from San Candido. The Azzurro then entered the match by consolidating his serve, but he was no longer able to trouble Nole on the serves, who won the first set 6-3.

Novak Djokovic is the active tennis player with the most number of Wimbledon men’s singles tournaments won: seven, one less than Switzerland’s Roger Federer, who recently retired after a career full of satisfaction.

The Serbian ace triumphed on London’s grass in the 2011, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022 editions: in last year’s final he got the better of Nick Kyrgios, who forfeited and did not participate in the tournament in 2023, in four sets.
