Claudio Ranieri is clear about his market targets

Cagliari coach Claudio Ranieri spoke in the first press conference of the new season. The coach of the islanders also spoke about the soccer market, making clear the Sardinian club’s goals.

“We will try. The calendar with us has not been so benevolent, there is to be compact: us, the fans, the environment, because we all want this team to remain in Serie A. I like to dream, but now I say this: salvation, salvation, salvation. And it is achieved by fighting on every ball knowing that there will always be suffering,” Ranieri began.

He then left no doubts on the market front: “We have taken players who are right for us but now we need other players to help us stay in Serie A: an experienced defender and two forwards. In attack I have very good players, but over 30 years old. It fits that in a long and difficult season there should be other arrows. We start from the hard core, from those who feel this jersey on them: the others will have to adapt to this spirit. I don’t discount anyone: whoever lets me know they can fit into my plans I welcome with open arms. I don’t look at salaries or age, I’ve always said that. In Serie A it won’t be easy, you can’t make mistakes or you get punished severely, I will have to evaluate every situation well and we have to do everything to get the salvation points.”

“The first arrivals? I hope Jankto is the one we had at Sampdoria: he runs a lot, has a good foot, good diagonals, assists, goals. I expect this. Inclusive society? I really like this one. Among the goalkeepers Radunovic starts as first, however, it is necessary to have the possibility to put a player of equal level in every eventuality,” continued the Roman coach.

Honorary citizenship coming up for the Sardinians’ coach: “I would be very proud of it but I already feel like an honorary citizen, the people made me a citizen. If then also the administration were to grant me citizenship I would be very proud.”
