Trieste basketball announces a comeback under the basket

Pallacanestro Trieste places the first shot on the market. The Julian club in fact officialized the return to the red and white of Francesco Candussi.

“Francesco Candussi returns to wear the jersey of Pallacanestro Trieste, after 8 years away from the Allianz Dome’s parquet. The class of 1994 center, a native of Palmanova, arrives at the court of coach Jamion Christian to face the next sports season in the A2 series,” reads the official statement released by the white and red club.

“Francesco is one of those rare players over 2.10 who can score from three-point range, from mid-range and from under the basket – the analysis of General Manager of Pallacanestro Trieste Michael Arcieri – His offensive versatility puts great pressure on the defense and creates optimal spaces in which to operate for himself and his teammates. His height has an impact on the game on both ends of the court, whether it’s rebounding, stopping or defending on the shot clock. He is a presence that opponents will have to take into account at all times.”

“Candussi, 211 cm by 110 kg, is now a veteran of Italian basketball: despite his 29 years of age, he has in fact worn the jerseys of Reyer Venezia, with which he made his debut in the top series in the 2011-2012 season, of Trieste, of Pesaro, of Mantova, of Verona, to finally settle last February at Fortitudo Bologna. It is in his long experience at Scaligera that “Candu” has showcased his talents in the pitturato collecting, in his more than 20 minutes of average employment, almost 13 points and contributing significantly to the club’s promotion to the A1 series in the 2021- 2022 season. After 4 seasons in the yellow-blue Francesco moved to coach Dalmonte’s Effe, who had already coached him in Verona in 18-19, putting up 13.3 points per game and grabbing almost 6 rebounds per contest.”

“An element of proven reliability, Candussi is a modern center, capable of also occupying the big wing spot, able to give depth to the game and also find solutions from distance. In his career, he has steadily worn the jersey of the Italian U16, U18 and U20 national teams, even making his debut on the senior national team in the match against Estonia valid for the 2021 European Championship qualifiers.”
