Valentino Rossi triumphs in Misano

Valentino Rossi and Maxime Martin won race-2 of the Misano Adriatico Sprint Cup round of the GT World Challenge Europe. It was the “Doctor’s” first success in this category with Team RT’s BMW M4 GT3, second Christopher Haase and Lucas Légeret (Comtoyou Racing Audi) and third Thomas Neubauer and Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer (WRT BMW).

The race, after an incident at the ‘Oak’ in its first part, was decided in the pits with a very long pit stop by Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor, who in the BMW 32 were on pole, so Rossi took the lead holding it until the end. The next Sprint Cup race will be in early September at Hockenheim.

Rossi therefore could not have chosen a better circuit than practically his home one to launch his first treble in this category, and now, at the ripe old age of 44, he can really hope to be a protagonist on four wheels as well.

Of note, in the Silver category, the success in an Audi of Lorenzo Patrese, 18-year-old son of the great Riccardo, paired with Alex Aka.
