Atalanta, Manchester United accelerates for Rasmus Hojlund: the plan
After Onana, the Red Devils continue to set their sights on the A Series.
Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United could actually be done. The young Atalanta center forward has been coveted for weeks by the club that is already bringing goalkeeper André Onana to the Premier League from Inter Milan. If, however, the Orobica management has rebuffed every assault that has come so far, the negotiation seems on the verge of taking off.
According to reports from ‘Sky Sport,’ in fact, Manchester United has reportedly decided to intensify its contacts with the Atalanta management, with the aim of figuring out what the margins are for taking over Hojlund’s player’s card. The 2003-born Danish striker, in his very first season in Italy, has amassed 10 goals and 4 assists in 34 appearances between Serie A and Coppa Italia.
The transaction, based on what was circulating until a few days ago, actually seemed quite complex. The intention was to make the striker leave Bergamo not only in the presence of certain economic conditions, but also in the face of an offer that presents only the value of his card in cash, and no quid pro quo. ‘The Athletic’ claimed in fact that in order to get to Hojlund, Manchester United would offer Atalanta one between Donny van de Beek and Fred, both midfielders with strong offensive doses. On the part of the orobic management, however, would have come a dry and round “no” for both.
Atalanta took over Hojlund from Sturm Graz just last summer, paying him 17 million. Now, a season later, it intends to deprive itself of him only on its own terms. According to rumors a few days ago, however, Manchester United itself had prepared a $46 million bid. Dea, however, had barred the way: it is not willing to deprive itself of the 2003-class bomber for a sum less than 60 million euros.
