Tijjani Reijnders at AC Milan

Tijjani Reijnders after signing a five-year contract spoke to Milan TV: “When my agent told me that Milan was interested in me, I was excited and happy. I was happy that such a club was interested in me and so the choice for me was very easy honestly. I didn’t have to think twice about it.”

“When my father was young he used to watch van Basten and Gullit all the time, he used to tell me about when they played at AC Milan and show me every video he could. They had a remarkable and incredible impact on this team. I am very proud to be the next Dutchman to play for this club. I talked a lot with Koopmeiners, and he told me that in Italy there is a very good life. The Italian league is of a very good level and it is perfect to improve yourself as a player. Certainly this also influenced my decision,” the words of the new Rossoneri.

“I am a box-to-box midfielder who likes to play offensive soccer, create chances for teammates or put myself in a position to score. When there is to defend I never back down, so I consider myself a typical box-to-box midfielder. I am a sociable person, I like to make friends, joke around and have a good time in company. I enjoy traveling, learning about new places in the world and playing video games.”

He will wear the number 14 jersey: “The number 6 is always my first choice, but you can’t take the number of an AC Milan legend. The number 14 made me think of Johan Cruijff, who was a very important player for us in Holland. It is a beautiful number.”

He concludes with a message to the fans, “I am very happy to be here. I hope to win many trophies with you in this team and I can’t wait to start.”
