Cagliari strikes a blow in attack. The Sardinian club in fact announced the arrival on loan of Gaetano Oristanio.

“Cagliari Calcio is pleased to announce the acquisition of the right to the sporting performance of the footballer Gaetano Oristanio, who moves to the Rossoblù from Inter with the loan formula with right of redemption and counter-redemption,” reads the statement released by the Rossoblù.

Born in Vallo della Lucania, class of 2002, he grew up footballingly in the Nerazzurri youth sector where he won the U16 and U17 championships. In Primavera he collects 42 total appearances with 10 goals and 6 assists, protagonist in the path that in the 2019/20 season takes the team up to the quarterfinals of the Uefa Youth League (3 goals in 6 matches).

In the summer of 2021, he moved abroad on loan to the ranks of Dutch side Volendam: in his first season in the professional ranks he took the field 35 times and scored an impressive 7 goals, contributing to the team’s promotion to the Eredivisie. He is also in Volendam the following season to put himself on the line in the Dutch top league: he plays 27 matches (1 goal and 3 assists) and is among the architects of salvation.

Among the strengths of the Azzurri youth national team, with which he has collected 30 matches and 7 goals so far, he played with the U17 the World Cup in Brazil in 2019. He made his U21 debut in Italy-Luxembourg 3-0 on June 6, 2022.

A natural left-hander, mainly employed as a trequartista, he can also play the role of outside attacker. Technique and vision of the game make him a valuable assist man; his progression with the ball at the foot, dry dribbling, and insertion skills allow him to get to the conclusion with ease and find the way to goal thanks to a strong and precise shot.
