Brindisi: taken Nate Laszewski
Happy Casa Brindisi announces that it has signed American athlete Nate Laszewski, a 207-centimeter wing, class of 1999, from his college career at Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Born in Jupiter, Florida, to an athletic family with basketball in its DNA from his father Jay to his sisters Abby and Emma, he completed his five years in college at Notre Dame and became one of the iconic players and top prospects. At the end of his fourth year, he decided to take advantage of the NCAA grant for an extra season due to the COVID disruption and completed his college career averaging 10 points and 5.8 rebounds with 48 percent from two, 38 percent from three and 77 percent at the free. In his final sports season he averaged 13.7 points and 7.2 rebounds with a season high of 33 points, 8 rebounds and 37 rating on Feb. 11 in the win vs. Virginia Tech.
The four-star recruit rating for U.S. scouts starts with a run to high school at Nothfield Mount Hermon, where he became a 2016 New England Prep School Athletic Conference regular season and postseason champion. Among many college offers, he chooses the Notre Dame Irish, bringing the university back after several years to the top NCAA tournament in March Madness all the way to Round 32.
In the summer he participated in the Summer League in Las Vegas wearing the Indiana Pacers’ jersey. Now it’s time for a move to Europe, to the Italian league, in biancoazzurro.
Sports Director Leo De Rycke’s comment: “I am very excited to welcome Nate to Brindisi, the type of player we were looking for. He is very versatile at the big wing position, with a high basketball IQ that fits perfectly with the coach’s style of play and modern basketball. This will be his first ‘overseas’ experience, and we will properly assist him on and off the court to help him acclimatize to the best of his ability.”
