It is now official: Arthur Melo is a Fiorentina player. After undergoing medical examinations yesterday and his first training session with his new teammates at Viola Park today, the purple club, through its media, announced that it “has acquired, on a temporary basis with the right of redemption, the rights to the sports performance of the player Arthur Henrique Ramos de Oliveira Melo from FC Juventus.”
“Arthur,” the release continues, “born in Goiana, Brazil, on August 12, 1996, wore, among others, the Barcelona jersey with which he played 72 matches, winning a Spanish La Liga and a Spanish Super Cup. The new purple midfielder has, in addition, worn the Brazilian senior national team jersey on 22 occasions, winning the 2019 Copa America.”
Last season, on loan at Liverpool, Arthur only took the field once, in the Champions League against Napoli, before suffering a serious injury.
With Juventus, from 2020 to 2022, he won an Italian Super Cup and a Coppa Italia, with Gremio, the club he grew up with, he won a Copa Libertadores in 2017 and a gaucho championship, while with Brazil’s national team he won the 2019 Copa America.
