Summer soccer: well Atalanta and Udinese
Atalanta beat Swiss amateurs Locarno 10-0 in the friendly match played at the close of the retreat in Valseriana at the “Città di Clusone” Sports Center. Miranchuk (lumbago, in the pits), Latte Lath (fatigue) and Zapata (apart; recovering from the injury of the distal muscle/tendon junction of the medial twin of the right leg) did not play; minutes, however, for the Azzurri Under-21s aggregated yesterday, Okoli, Scalvini and Cambiaghi. Instead, Carnesecchi went on the bench with Boga and aggregate Panada (class of 2002) returning from Modena.
Scoring in the first half was Lookman with a brace, in the 8th minute after also leaping over the goalkeeper on Hojlund’s dig and in the 28th minute with a left-footed lob from a deflected position on Zappacosta’s opening, Pasalic (22′) right-footed roundabout with the help of the post on Toloi’s throw, Maehle on the half-hour mark at the crossbar from the edge on Pasalic’s backheel offload (Ederson’s throw) and Zappacosta (40′) left-footed with Berera’s deflection on Lookman’s through ball.
In the second half, goals by Adopo (17′) with a sharp right-footed shot from 20 yards, a double by Muriel (23′ and 33′) with a feint and support on Koopmeiners’ filter and a left-footed shot at the first post from distance, and two also for Koopmeiners (38′) on a diagonal on Adopo’s inside touch and (45′) on a volley on Zortea’s cross. Preparation continues from Monday at the Centro Sportivo Bortolotti venue in Zingonia, where Pro Vercelli should be hosted for a further test on Thursday, July 26, while the next two Saturdays, on the 29th (4 p.m. Italian time, 3 p.m. local) and August 5 (3:30 p.m.), the Nerazzurri will be engaged at home to Bournemouth and Union Berlin, respectively.
Udinese, on the other hand, beat Pafos Cypriots 2-0 in their first real match of the season, following two outings with local representatives last week. The match was played in Austria, where the Friulians are in training camp. Goals were scored in the 27th minute by Beto and in the 43rd minute by Thauvin. The two strikers appeared quite inspired. In the first fraction Sottil tried out what, at the moment, appears to be the starting lineup and which, if there are no market movements, could also make its debut in a month’s time in the home match with Juventus. In front of Silvestri, the coach deployed a three-man defense composed of Perez, Bijol and Masina; in midfield were Festy, Samardzic, Walace, Lovric and Kamara (the only new face in the starting 11); and in attack Thauvin and Beto. The new signings all entered the game in progress: Zemura, Camara, Quina, Brenner and Lucca.
