F1, Lewis Hamilton: “I hated every lap.”
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, who started from pole position in Hungary, had to settle for fourth place overall: “The reality is that we are not fast enough. Already in the morning I was warned that I would accuse at least five tenths a lap from Red Bull. Therefore I was aware that I would not be fighting with Max but with the McLarens. They, too, however, turned out to be too fast for us….”
The British driver does not think that a better start would have changed things drastically: “Probably with a better start I would have been able to finish third, but fourth place is still okay.”
“We were too slow in the first two stints and the balance was not good,” Hamilton continued, “Then the balance increased a lot at the end and suddenly I was able to apply pressure, but it was too late.
“There is no lap I liked, the car was not going well at all today. For some reason, in general we lacked pace. You live and learn. Yesterday was a good day and we will take the positives, but right now we are a long way from victory.”
