Bari, Walid Cheddira on farewell step: agent speaks out
Cheddira’s agent reveals his client’s ambitions
The paths of Bari and Walid Cheddira are close to separating for good. After coach Michele Mignani’s sibylline message on the sidelines of the friendly match won 5-0 against Delfino Curi Pescara, it was the Moroccan national player’s agent, Bruno Di Napoli, who revealed his ambitions.
“Walid,” Di Napoli told ‘Radio Crc’, “is appreciated by several clubs, in Serie A and abroad. At the moment the market is a bit at a standstill, we are simply waiting to see what will happen in the coming days. Napoli? Not only that, Empoli may also be a welcome place, but there are really several clubs in the top division that have asked for information.”
“We are in no hurry,” Cheddira’s agent added, “with Bari I am sure we will find the most suitable solution. He has great ambition, I myself believe he deserves to play in Serie A. It would have been nice to play it with the Bari jersey, he would have been happy. It didn’t happen but I want to thank President De Laurentiis and the club, who confirmed that they do not want to force the link between the players and the club.”
Cheddira, born in Loreto to Moroccan parents, after his experience in his hometown in the Marche’s Eccellenza, continued his career wearing the jerseys of Sangiustese (Serie D), Arezzo, Lecco, and Mantova (Serie C) before landing, again in the third series, at Bari: in the 2021/22 season he was among the protagonists of promotion to Serie B, and his performance in the first part of last year’s cadet tournament had convinced the c.Moroccan coach regragui to call him up for the World Cup in Qatar, which saw the North Africans take a historic fourth place.
