Alex Rins also skips Silverstone
Alex Rins’ new forfeit
No dice for Alex Rins. The Spanish rider has not yet recovered from the tibia and fibula fracture suffered in the Mugello Sprint and will also be forced to miss the British Grand Prix, scheduled to be held at Silverstone on Sunday, Aug. 6, after the long summer break.
Making it official was the Honda LCR team, which has hired Spaniard Iker Lecuona as a replacement, who will thus have to forgo the Suzuka 8 Hours, of which he was defending champion.
“I wish Alex a speedy recovery, but at the same time, I am happy to get on the bike-I want to give my best and help the team. I like Silverstone and we will be able to have fun, I thank the Honda family and the LCR team for the opportunity,” said Lecuona, who will race for the third time this season in the premier class, after standing in for Marc Marquez at Jerez and Joan Mir at Assen.
