Champions League: trio Panathinaikos, Mertens not enough at Galatasaray
Part of the first leg of the second round of the Champions League preliminaries was scheduled for Tuesday night. One of the most emblazoned teams of the night, Panathinaikos, did not betray expectations and won 3-1 in Kosice against Ukrainians Dnipro thanks to goals from Sporar, former Samp Djuricic and Ioannidis.
Turkey’s champion Galatasaray drew 2-2 in Lithuania at the field of Zalgiris: down 1-0 after Oyewusi’s goal, the Istanbul team reversed the result with Bardakci and Dervisoglu, both served by assists from former Napoli player Mertens, but in the 92nd minute came Kazlauskas’ 2-2. Former Roma man Zaniolo was also on the pitch for about an hour.
Dinamo Zagreb, on the other hand, overwhelmed Astana 4-0 thanks to a hat trick by Ivanusec and a goal by Spikic. Copenhagen went through in Iceland against Breidablik thanks to goals from Larsson and Falk, while between Servette and Genk ended in a draw, 1-1.
