F1 Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur is adamant: “We must dare”
F1, Frederic Vasseur no-nonsense ahead of the Belgian GP
After the seventh and eighth places achieved by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in the Hungarian GP, Ferrari’s team principal spoke bluntly about the performance of the Maranello team in this first part of the season and the key factors to be able to compete with Mercedes, Aston Martin and McLaren for the role of second force after Red Bull.
“We are coming off two races in which we were unable to realize the potential of the SF-23. The Belgian GP offers us the opportunity to resume the growth path begun in Canada and interrupted recently by overly cautious attitudes and also by a few too many individual mistakes,” began Ferrari’s team principal as can be read on “FormulaPassion”
“Charles and Carlos are two of the strongest drivers in F1, but we need to be able to put them in a position to take full advantage of their talents. The values behind Red Bull are incredibly close, with five teams fighting on the edge of thousandths at all tracks. For our part, we have to take care of every detail of the weekend, from free practice to the last lap of the race, because every tenth of a second can make a difference,” added the former Alfa Romeo manager.
“We know our weaknesses and our opponents are not standing still. In Belgium and in the continuation of the championship we will have to go out on the track with full concentration trying to make as few mistakes as possible. However, in order to be competitive, we will also have to be willing to dare,” Frederic Vasseur commented.
