AC Milan announced that they have sold Matteo Gabbia on loan to Villarreal. Here is the text of the statement from the Rossoneri.

“AC Milan announces that it has sold the sports performance of the player Matteo Gabbia to Villarreal CF on temporary loan until June 30, 2024. The Rossoneri club wishes Matteo the best satisfactions for the next football season.”

A 23-year-old defender born in Busto Arsizio, Gabbia grew up in Milan making his debut on January 15, 2020 in the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia against SPAL (3-0), entering eight minutes from the end in place of Simon Kjær. In four years between all competitions, he totaled 51 appearances and 1 goal.

In the last La Liga, Villarreal placed fifth by reaching the Conference League round of 16.
