Lorenzo Musetti: “This is how great champions win.”
Lorenzo Musetti’s words after the victory over Jozef Kovalik
Lorenzo Musetti commented to ATP microphones on his hard-fought victory in the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 in Hamburg over Jozef Kovalik of Slovakia, beaten in a comeback with a score of 3-6 6-2 6-4, after the match had been interrupted due to darkness on Wednesday at 6-3 1-4 in favor of Kovalik.
“Today I put in a lot of physicality and fighting spirit. I was not finding my best tennis and I could feel it,” admitted the Carrara tennis player. “There was a lot of frustration inside. I was running a lot to get to a lot of balls and I was a little lucky and took the chances I was given.”
“I think great champions, most of the time, don’t play their best tennis but win. I did it, so I’m really proud of myself,” Musetti concluded.
The number two Italian tennis player in the quarterfinals of the German tournament will face Serbian Laslo Djere, who, out of seven previous matches, has already beaten him five times, including four just on clay.
