Rome, appeal dismissed for Jose Mourinho
No dice for Roma and José Mourinho. Uefa, in fact, rejected the Capitoline club’s appeal, confirming the four-day European disqualification for the Giallorossi coach after the events that occurred at the end of the Europa League final with Sevilla.
“The appeal presented by AS Roma has been rejected. Consequently, the decision of the Uefa Disciplinary, Ethics and Control Body of June 21, 2023 is confirmed,” reads the official statement released by Uefa.
Specifically, the Portuguese coach had received a sting from Uefa for addressing offensive words to referee Taylor. Uefa’s Disciplinary, Ethics and Control Body had ruled to “suspend the coach of AS Roma, José Mourinho, for the next four matches in Uefa club competitions in which he would otherwise participate, for addressing offensive language to a match official.”
Uefa also dismissed the appeal for what happened in the semifinal against Bayer Levekusen. In fact, Roma had been “fined 30,000 euros with the partial closure of the Stadio Olimpico, which will consist of at least 6,000 seats (3,000 seats in the north stand and 3,000 seats in the west stand), during the next Uefa competitions match, for throwing objects.”
