Trieste, Eli Brooks arrival made official
Official: Eli Brooks is a new player for Trieste basketball
Pallacanestro Trieste places an important incoming blow. The Biancorossi have made official the arrival of Eli Brooks, the first of two foreigners on the roster at Coach Cristian’s disposal. The American guard moves to Italy after a solid presence in the G League with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and experience with the Indiana Pacers jersey in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
“Eli Brooks, class of 1998, originally from South Carolina, is a point guard who, however, has evolved into a “combo guard” over time. Brooks attends Spring Grove Area High School in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, where he is coached by his father. In his junior year he averaged 24.7 points per game, 7.6 rebounds and nearly 4 recovered balls, leading Spring Grove to their first state tournament appearance in school history. After finishing his senior year of high school with a nearly 30-point average Eli is named to the Class 5-A First Team All-State and is a finalist for Pennsylvania Mr. Basketball.
Securing the golden boy from Spring Grove is the University of Michigan, with whom he will break the record for the most games played in a Wolverines jersey, also serving as captain. With increasing performances over the years Eli makes it to the NCAA East Region finals in his fourth year in college, being defeated only by the UCLA team, but still putting up an average of nearly 10 points and over 3 assists per contest.
In his senior year, his averages rise to 12.8 points, topped by 4 rebounds, which combined with veteran leadership earned him honorable mention All-Big Ten honors at the Big Ten Conference in 2022,” this is the statement issued by the red-and-whites.
Trieste Basketball General Manager Michael Arcieri also commented on the new addition: “Eli possesses that rare blend of basketball intelligence and the ability to create opportunities for himself and teammates. His mentality and commitment to the two phases make him a perfect fit for the philosophy of Pallacanestro Trieste, which puts the ability to create play and unselfishness first. We are excited to see him wearing our red and white jersey and welcome Eli and his family with a warm Trieste hug.”
