Domenico Berardi scares Sassuolo: “I don’t know if I’m staying,” Dionisi answers him
An evening of celebration, marked, however, by a small case.
Domenico Berardi starred in the presentation evening that Sassuolo organized ahead of the new season. The neroverde captain uttered at least sibylline words about his future with the team, even provoking a subsequent clarification from his coach Alessio Dionisi.
“Thank you all for the good wishes, which are always a pleasure,” Berardi told those present on the evening organized by Sassuolo. “I have been here for many years, and to feel all this warmth is a source of pride for me. We hope to improve on last season, in which we did not start well and then we were extraordinary in the second half. We have to build on that and try to improve. We have a lot of young people and I am sure we will do well, although I don’t know if I will be here.”
From Berardi then came a sort of opening to a possible transfer, or more generally to a farewell to Sassuolo. A prospect denied without mincing words by his coach Alessio Dionisi. “The fact that he is ambitious is normal. But his words are a slip, since 100 percent he is part of our project,” the neroverde coach told ‘Sky Sport’ commenting on what the team captain said.
In the past weeks there had been talk of interest from Fiorentina and the “usual” Juventus for Berardi. There were also strong rumors of a possible move to Lazio, denied, however, categorically by Claudio Lotito. Instead, in mid-July there had been speculation of his transfer to Saudi Arabia, to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr.
