Claudio Ranieri’s Cagliari, newly promoted to Serie A, plays in a friendly this afternoon at 5 p.m. at the Brunod Stadium in Chatillon, Valle d’Aosta, against Moreno Longo’s Como, a team playing in Serie B.
The match is the fourth in the Sardinian red and blue team’s preseason, following those against Olbia in the Sardinia Trophy on July 21 (2-0 win with goals by Kourfalidis and Pereiro), Roma Under-19 on the 26th (4-1 win with goals by Pereiro, Lella, Oristanio and Paulo Azzi) and Juventus Next Gen on the 29th (3-0 win with Luvumbo’s hat trick. Instead, there were four preseason friendlies faced by the Larians: in order Alto Lario, Muggiò and two Serie C teams, Torres and Pro Patria.
Both teams will officially start the season with the 32nd finals of the Coppa Italia: the Sardinians will take on Palermo at the Unipol Domus on Saturday, Aug. 12, while the Lombardi, with former duty player Alberto Cerri, will face Lecce on Sunday, Aug. 13 at the Via del Mare.
In Cagliari, bomber Gianluca Lapadula, who had ankle surgery, and midfielders Marko Rog (anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee) and Marco Mancosu, who left the Aosta Valley retreat due to right knee problems, will not be available to Ranieri.
