Torino draws in France
Lens-Torino 0-0
The first of Torino’s two friendlies on French soil ended in a scoreless draw: Ivan Juric’s team did not go beyond a 0-0 draw against Lens, a team that finished in second place in last year’s Ligue 1, just one point behind champion PSG.
Torino lined up on the field at kickoff with Gemello in goal, Schuurs, Buongiorno and Ricardo Rodriguez in defense, Singo, Ricci, Iic and Vojvoda in midfield, Seck and Karamoh supporting Sanabria in the offensive zone. Tameze, Radonjic, Pellegri, Zima, Bayeye, Verdi, Gineitis, N’Guessan and Ali Dembelé then entered in the second half.
The granata’s next match is scheduled for Sunday, August 6: the opponent will be Reims, a club with a great tradition (two-time Champions Cup finalist in the 1950s), which has been playing uninterruptedly in Ligue 1 since 2018 after promotion from the cadet division.
Torino will begin the next Serie A championship on August 21 against Cagliari at home. On Saturday 26 they travel to San Siro to play against AC Milan, then return to the Olimpico Grande Torino to meet Genoa on the day before the break, Sept. 3.
