Fiorentina beaten by Newcastle

Fiorentina was defeated 2-0 by Newcastle in the first match of the quadrangular ‘Sela Cup’ in which Villarreal and Nice are also participating. At St. James Park, the Viola conceded a goal in each half by the host team to which former Milan player Sandro Tonali, already well inserted into the playing mechanisms of coach Howe, moved this summer for 80 million.

Newcastle, who will participate in the next Champions League, unlocked in the 38th minute with Almiron after a post hit by Gordon and doubled at the end of the second half (37 minutes) with Isak’s header on the development of a corner kick.

Fiorentina, lined up with Cerofolini between the posts, Dodo, Milenkovic, young Comuzzo and Biraghi in defense, Arthur and Duncan in the midfield, Nico Gonzalez, Bonaventura and Brekalo in support of Cabral, never really engaged the opponent’s goalkeeper (the Brazilian center forward missed before halftime a very nice chance) while it risked being pierced several times by the Englishmen who appeared to be definitely ahead also in terms of condition since they will start the championship in a week’s time.

The purple team is on its second defeat in an international friendly after the 5-0 loss to Red Star in Belgrade: tomorrow at 2 p.m. (live on Dazn) it will face Nice coached by Italian Farioli.
