First set with as many as five breaks in the first seven games with Sonego unfortunately going from 3-1 to 3-5 and shortly thereafter closing the partial by holding serve to zero.
Second set, on the other hand, which saw no break by the two protagonists and was decided by the tie-break, in which Fritz flew 5-0 and then closed the case 7-1.
For Italy it is therefore the third defeat in three partie of the men’s tournament today after those of Lorenzo Musetti against Daniil Medvedev and that of Jannik Sinner against Dusan Lajovic, who will now meet Fritz himself.
