Jannik Sinner, luxury training with Carlos Alcaraz
The Us Open has not yet begun, but Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are already ready to put on a show for a closely watched practice session. The two young rivals, on Thursday, Aug. 24, will step onto the center court of Arthur Ashe Stadium, a year after last year's extraordinary quarterfinal, in which the Murcian player è imposed himself on the Alto Adige native in five sets after a marathon of more than five hours, for an important training session ahead of the debut at Flashing Meadows.
The two players will be on the court in conjunction with the Main Draw draw that will determine the scoreboard and possible pairings.
Sinner and Alcaraz come to this date with different, but well-delineated goals. The Murcian, after winning Wimbledon and losing in the final in Cincinnati to Novak Djokovic, aims to confirm himself at the top of the ATP Ranking, while the South Tyrolean, fresh winner of the first career Masters 1000 in Toronto, will want to mortgage his qualification to the Nitto ATP Finals 2023.
Currently Sinner in the Race è behind Carlos alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev with 4185 points and is 1640 points away from qualifying among the eight who will play in Turin at the end of the year.
