MotoGP: Pecco Bagnaia breaks silence from hospital
Six words to reassure all his fans.
Pecco Bagnaia is fine. Ducati was the first to confirm this, after the big scare of the Montmel'accident involving the reigning MotoGP world champion. In the meantime, he decided to intervene himself, sending a social message intended to generate the final sigh of relief from his many fans.
In the image he chose to post on Instagram, Bagnaia è sits on a crib in a doctor's office and the only dressings seen are two small patches on his right wrist and in the hollow of his left arm. "Today I can only say thank you", è the short message that adds the Ducati rider.
Bagnaia had been involved in a very bad crash at the start of the Catalan Grand Prix. At the second corner of the first lap, his Ducati had bolted, propelled him upward and then sent him plummeting into the middle of the trajectory. The KTM of Brad Binder, who was overtaking a few meters later, è then passed over his leg.
"Pecco Bagnaia suffered multiple contusions, but further medical checks showed no fractures. The reigning world champion will wantà in Italy with the team this evening", Ducati had earlier made known in an official statement.
Ducati’s official note had also shed light on the condition of Enea Bastianini, who was involved in a multiple crash at the first corner: "He suffered a non-displaced fracture of the medial malleolus of his left ankle and a subcapital fracture of the second metacarpal of his left hand. Both his hand and ankle were immobilized with casts to allow him to travel to Italy tonight. He will have to have surgery on his ankle and, to speed up recovery, he will also have surgery on his hand" in the next few days.
