At the end of the stage the Belgian cyclist è returned to talk about the complicated previous stage: "Yesterday è was a really difficult day and even in the evening I was not well. I couldn’t sleep much, I had a really bad night, with a lot of negative thoughts in my head. Today I woke up and said to myself, 'Just go'. I did a reconnaissance of this stage because it was important for the overall classification. I knew exactly what the climbs were like because it was a very tough stage. It was nice to win the second stage here at the Vuelta".

On Evenepoel’s redemption, reigning red jersey Sepp Kuss also expressed himself: "What Remco did today è impressive. It's a great way to redeem himself from yesterday and I&#39m happy for him that he got a success after a disappointing day. We knew he would be motivated to attack but we were not worried by the breakaway. Today we focused on staying together becauseé we knew the second climb would be tricky if there was any attack".
