Not only Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz also misses Davis Cup
Following Jannik Sinner's forfeit in Italy, the Davis Cup loses another protagonist for the group stage, namely Carlos Alcaraz. The Murcian tennis player, in fact, after his elimination in the semifinals at the Us Open against Daniil Medvedev, has made known through his social profiles his intention not to respond to the Spanish national team’s call-up for the matches against the Czech Republic, Serbia and South Korea scheduled in Valencia from September 12 to 17.
"It gave me great satisfaction to be summoned to play the Davis Cup with Spain in Valencia, forò I have to listen to my body at the end of a long series of such close commitments. I need to stop and rest, physically and mentally. The calendar è very demanding and there is still half a season to go. Now I have to recharge my batteries. A big good luck to the Spanish team. I will support you strongly. Vamos!" these are the words of the Murcian tennis player on his own social accounts.
Jannik Sinner, via his social profiles also declared forfeit to the national team for the same reasons as his Spanish rival: "Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to recover after the tournaments in America and unfortunately will not be ableò to be part of the team in Bologna. It's always an honor to play for our country and I am convinced that I will return to the national team as soon as possible. Best of luck to the guys, see you".
