In mid-March Camila Giorgi had already given some hints again via social: “I miss it, I would like to play some matches. Could I come back? Maybe, never say never. A class of 1991, Giorgi is considered by many to be among the best Italian tennis players ever. Throughout her career she has dedicated herself exclusively to singles and is a specialist on fast surfaces. She boasts four major-circuit tournaments won, including the prestigious Canadian Open in 2021 in Montréal, and holds the Italian women’s record for titles on fast surfaces, tied with Flavia Pennetta and Roberta Vinci.

The Macerata-born champion has been the top Italian tennis player for five consecutive seasons, a total of 236 weeks, and she is the Italian tennis player with the best winning percentage against top 10 and top 20 players, as well as the most successful Italian tennis player on grass in the major circuit main draw with 42 wins.
