The words of Filippo Volandri

Filippo Volandri makes no dramas after the heavy loss accrued against Canada, which è imposed itself with a dry 3-0 thanks to wins in singles by Galarneau over Sonego and Diallo over Musetti, and in doubles by the Galarneau-Pospisil pair over that formed by Arnaldi and Bolelli.

"First of all, I want to congratulate Canada who won with full merit,” he stressed. And then I want to congratulate the boys who gave everything. We need to analyze this defeat with a cool head. If we pretended that nothing happened it would be wrong but we have to try to understand and start again. Because we still have two important challenges to face".

"I have no regrets – added Volandri, the guys gave everything they had. We aimed to win all three matches and instead we lost them all. We knew that the Canadians when they play at home – as è happened in Toronto where Diallo beat Evans and lost narrowly to De Minaur (then made it to the final; ed.)  and Galarneau only succumbed in the third against Cerundolo – or play for the national team know how to perform".

"Arnaldi’s choice? Andrea is è not yet available, and he was not deployable today. We had tried several doubles matches during the week, including the one between Bolelli and Arnaldi. Besides, it was a good opportunity for Matteo to make his debut. After all, the score with which they lost means something. Chile? It has good players" concluded the captain of the Davis Cup national team.
