Matteo Arnaldi, on his singles debut, gave the first point to Italy, which at the Unipol Arena in Bologna is playing against Chile for a chance to still chase one of the first two places in Group A useful for qualification for the November Finals (21-26) in Malaga.
The 22-year-old from San Remo, No. 47 ATP, beat Cristian Garin, No. 103 ATP, in a comeback 2-6 6-4 6-3, in two hours and 23 minutes of play.
"It è was not an easy debut – said Matteo warmly – at’the beginning I was a little bit tense and could not do what I wanted to do. Having the whole team close è different, I tried to give it my all. We are a good team, now we think about winning all the next games to qualify. Thank you all!".
