Honorary degree for Carlo Ancelotti
Honorary degree for Carlo Ancelotti
After winning practically everything on a soccer field, first as a player and then as a coach – the only 'mister' to have grabbed the 'scudetto' in the first five European championships and to bring home four Champions Leagues, two with Milan and two with Real Madrid – Carlo Ancelotti becomes 'doctor'.
Next Oct. 11, the University of Parma will confer on him an honorary Master Degree in Preventive and Adapted Motor Activity Sciences and Techniques. The proposal, formulated by the Department of Medicine and Surgery, è was approved by the Academic Senate of the University of Emilia and then endorsed by the Minister of the University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini.
Now, the technician from Reggiolo, currently at the helm of Real Madrid and next coach of the Brazilian national team, has only to withdraw the academic title, decidedly different from those that shine in his trophy cabinet full of trophies collected running on the field with Roma and Milan and then on the bench between Milan, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea.
"For us è it is a great honor and a great joy – observes University Rector Paolo Andrei – and we are really grateful to Carlo Ancelotti for accepting this recognition of ours, which among other things comes from a city that in many ways has been a fundamental crossroads for his two careers: as a footballer and as a coach. Ancelotti,” he adds, “is a true ambassador of our country and our territory in the world, and the fact that he has been able to win in such different realities makes him a true legend. It will truly be a huge privilege to have him among our graduates".
At the ceremony, which will open with the intervention of the Parma Rector, Ancelotti will give his lectio doctoralis, entitled 'Football: a school of life'. The event will be by invitation only but it will be possible to attend online, connecting to the live streaming from the Ateneo website.
