Andrea Capobianco returns coach of the women’s national team
The Italian Basketball Federation announced on the sidelines of Thursday’s federal assembly that the women’s national team will be coached by Andrea Capobianco. This is a return for the 1966-born coach, who had coached the Azzurre in two other separate periods.
"The Technical Commissioner of the Women’s National Team è Andrea Capobianco – reads the FIP note -, already; Head Coach of the Azzurre from 2015 to 2017 [and in 2019, ed.] 24 games on the Azzurre bench for Capobianco, Team Leader of the National Women’s 3×3 Open Women’s National Team at the Tokyo Olympic Games".
Capobianco boasts experience as head coach in the men’s arena with Salerno, Avellino, Jesi and Teramo, before beginning the journey in the federal sector, coaching the Under 18, 19 and 20 men’s teams and the women’s 3×3 National Team in addition to the women’s national team.
In his trophy cabinet he boasts a promotion from C2 to C1 with Salerno (1999), an Italian Legadue Cup with Jesi (2008) and the award for best coach of the year in Serie A with Teramo (2009), as well as qualification for the Tokyo Olympic Tournament at the helm of the National Women’s 3×3 team.
