Camila Giorgi knocked out in the round of 16 in Guadalajara, passes Sakkari
Camila Giorgi’s journey in Guadalajara ends in the round of 16. The Marche-based tennis player, in fact, è was sharply defeated by the number two seeded Maria Sakkari in just over an hour of play with a score of 6-2 6-2.
In the first set, the Italian tennis player suffered a lot on serve and pressure from her rival and after a little more than 20 minutes found herself down 5-0. The 31-year-old tennis player manages to redeem herself by snatching the service from her colleague, who però, accomplice to the large lead, manages to close the set on the score of 6-2.
In the second set, the Italian managed to find more rhythm and snatched the serve from Sakkari. However, the Greek player does not flinch and manages to regain control of the match by posting six consecutive games and closing the match after 68 minutes.
In the quarterfinals Maria Sakkari will face Colombian class of 2000 Emiliana Arango, who in her round of 16 match beat US player Taylor Townsend 7-5 1-6 6-4.
