Lecce unstoppable: beaten even Genoa, is second
A victory that, come what may, has already rewritten history.
Lecce relentless in this start of Serie A. The Salentini coached by Roberto D'Aversa also beat Genoa and have the luxury of spending a night as the league's second power, one point behind leaders Inter and +1 from third-placed Juventus. The 1-0 win at the Via del Mare coincides with their third victory in five league games. The other two were draws: these are results never achieved by the Giallorossi in their entire history.
That Lecce was smelling the scent of epic night could be understood from the very first minutes, with Strefezza, Krstovic and Kaba immediately dangerous. At halftime è it was Krstovic, relentless in the Giallorossi's record start, who twice came close to scoring. Genoa managed to react after the half-hour with Gudmundsson and Bani, but as early as 36'they lost Martin for double caution. And the match changes further.
Krstovic, already dangerous once again before halftime, opens the resumption by serving Rafia who misses the go-ahead goal. Almqvist then tries as well, in what seems to become a Giallorossi symphony. Genoa did not è out of the game, so much so that Falcone had to commit to an attempt from distance by Badelj. In the last half-hour for the Lecce team to press again with all its members: again Krstovic, twice Almqvist and Strefezza frighten Martinez, but the Grifone goalkeeper canò nothing on Oudin's conclusion at 84'84', which surges after a deflection and ends up in the net. That's how it ends, with Lecce on 11 points after 5 games and sitting squarely at the table of the big boys. And on Tuesday there's an away match at the Juventus field.
