F1 Ferrari: Leclerc sounds alarm, Sainz sacrificed and satisfied
Charles Leclerc commented to Sky on his fourth position in the Japanese Grand Prix. It's decisive was the nice overtake on George Russell: "It was important to pass Russell, there was Hamilton pushing and I was afraid of the team game. I didn't want to lose time, I had managed the tires well and took some risks. It was a good overtake".
McLaren took a resounding second and third place, and now points in the overall standings to Aston Martin, Ferrari and Mercedes: "a McLaren worries us, but we know there are tracks where they go strong. If they also confirm themselves in Qatar, then we will begin to worry seriously", è the Monegasque's alarm.
Ferrari's other driver Carlos Sainz, fresh from his resounding victory in Singapore, commented on his sixth place this way: "I am happy with the start and the race pace, after a difficult day yesterday today the pace was very good and I had a lot of pace in general. Too bad about the’last stop that è cost me the position because’we were 4 seconds in front and went out 8 behind, so we have to see what could be done. At the end they made the stop with Charles to secure the position, while I was a little bit sacrificed".
"È it was a good race for me, I had pace and I could do what I wanted. I can’t be mad about Mercedes’ team play, it’s racing and it didn’t work because Leclerc caught up with Russell. Good thing, becauseé if they had used the same game as me and succeeded I would have been disappointed, but we got them".
