Ahead of the continuation of the board, there's a possible challenge that scares.

Jannik Sinner began his adventure at the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing by beating Daniel Evans in three sets and is now preparing to face Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka in the second round (their match will take place on Sunday, when it will be early morning hours in Italy). In his future lies a challenge with Carlos Alcaraz, if the path of both presents no obstacles, and the South Tyrolean admitted that he fears this prospect.

Indeed, should he win in the next round, Sinner would face the winner of the challenge between Rune and Dimitrov in the quarters. In the event that this round is also passed, then, in the semifinals would come the turn of Alcaraz. Who, in turn, must overcome first Lorenzo Musetti and then one of Ruud or Etcheverry.

"Difficult at this time to talk about rivalryà with Carlos. He has already won so much and I think at the moment he is still a better player than me. I would be happy to be Alcaraz’s biggest rival, I feel I have the potential to be but è something I can’t talk about now, we will only know in the future. I still have to improve", Sinner had indeed admitted to the press already upon his arrival in Beijing.

The two have faced each other several times in recent years, with Alcaraz winning in Paris-Bercy 2021 and the US Open in 2022, while Sinner è managed to prevail twice also in 2022: in Umag and especially in Wimbledon. Despite this, forò, the South Tyrolean has decided to adopt the low profile ahead of the hypothetical new challenge with the formidable Spaniard.
