MotoGp, Jorge Martin wins sprint race at Motegi and ends a perfect Saturday
Jorge Martin è the ruler of Saturday’s Motegi
After taking pole position with an incredible time (1:43.198, a new track record), Jorge Martin è also won the Sprint race at the Japanese circuit. Over the distance of the planned 12 laps, the Ducati Pramac rider was unrivaled and ahead of Brad Binder (KTM), who came in at almost a second and a half, and Pecco Bagnaia (official Ducati), who instead ruled the chasing group.
Fourth was Jack Miller (KTM), who finished ahead of Martin’s teammate, Frenchman Johann Zarco. Marco Bezzecchi, fourth on the grid despite a crash during qualifying, finished sixth on the Ducati of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, ahead of Marc Marquez, first among the Honda riders.
Closing out the top 10 in the Sprint race was a good Fabio Di Giannantonio, eighth on a Team Gresini Ducati, Maverick Viñales on an official Aprilia and Raul Fernandez, tenth on an Aprilia RNF.
With today’s success, Martin now finds himself very close to Bagnaia in the overall standings: in fact, there are only 8 points separating the Spanish rider from the reigning world champion: the fight for the 2023 title è now a two-way affair.
