Luciano Spalletti increasingly enthusiastic about the adventure as coach

Luciano Spalletti, technical commissioner of the national soccer team, held on Tuesday a plenary lecture dedicated to the students of the courses to become Uefa Pro sports director and coach, confirming his enthusiasm for the post he has officially held for a month and a half.

"When they need me in Coverciano – said the coach of Napoli’s third Scudetto, speaking to those present in the aula magna of the Federal Technical Center – I always answer yes. Becauseé I have learned so many things here and spent a lot of time, and without their willingness; I could not be in heaven alive: that as coach è the’highest position in my history as a coach".

Spalletti, 64, from Certaldo, began his Azzurri journey on Aug. 18, 2023, just days after Roberto Mancini’s resignation, making his debut on Sept. 9 in the 1-1 away draw against North Macedonia in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

A few days later, at the second attempt, the first success of his career as coach for Spalletti: at San Siro, on Sept. 12, Italy in fact beat Ukraine (getting back in the running for qualification) thanks to Davide Frattesi’s double, decisive for the 2-1 final.
